David Wrightson, born in 1940, is still active in photography to this day. He photographed Malta in 1963 for the late Prof Quentin Hughes’ book, Fortress Malta. His work showcases Malta in beautiful luscious black and white tones, and belies Wrightson’s strengths as an exceptional architectural photographer with an innate understanding of light and shadow. The fact that this whole portfolio was produced in less than two weeks in Malta is testament to the greatness of the Wrightson. His collection has been entirely donated to MIPA for digitization and preservation.
